All about accident insurance

Yes or No?

Is collision insurance together with compulsory insurance still worthwhile nowadays? This dilemma troubles many motorists. Therefore, in the following lines we will summarise all the important information you should know about breakdown insurance. The owner of a car with a number plate is legally obliged to take out compulsory insurance. In the case of collision insurance, this is no longer an obligation.

What is collision car insurance?

Collision insurance, refers to damages that you have caused yourself or caused by an unknown culprit. This includes, for example, damage caused by a crash, theft, natural disasters, encounters with wildlife or vandalism. This type of insurance is particularly beneficial for owners of new cars or older luxury and expensive vehicles.

Although the name implies that the insurance coverage will touch on accidents while chauffeuring, it is not just about that. What all the insurance will cover depends on your choice. You can choose an insurance policy that covers all insurable risks. However, this may not be convenient for everyone. In that case, it is possible to choose only those risks that your car actually faces.

How much does collision insurance cost?

The price of breakdown insurance is a very individual matter and is not only influenced by the choice of insurance company. It depends on several other factors, mainly the type of car insured, the age and the residence of the insured. For example, the engine capacity, the vehicle’s performance, the current price of the vehicle, the type of fuel or the date of first registration play an important role. When arranging insurance, car security such as an alarm or a tracking device is also taken into account. In practice, this means that the price of the insurance premium increases with the price of the car. The opposite is true with the age of the driver – younger, therefore less experience.

The difference between online PZP and accident insurance

The basic difference between compulsory contractual insurance and accident insurance is their necessity. Without compulsory insurance you must not be on the road with your vehicle, without breakdown insurance you can, but it may not be worth it. Compulsory insurance pays for the damage you cause to others as a driver, not only to your property but also to your health. Compulsory insurance does not cover damage you cause to yourself. That’s why it’s worth having breakdown insurance as well. This compensates for damage to your property, regardless of who caused it.

In conclusion, it is worth investing in car insurance.
