MasterBox 600. New case (also) for boards with rear connectors

Cooler Master MasterBox 600

Cooler Master has released, in its own words, a versatile PC case. By this (versatile) it seems to refer, among other things, to the support of motherboards with unconventional placement of connectors on the back of the PCB. But within a certain universality, the MasterBox 600 is ready for practically all component formats. The size of the case corresponds to an average midi-tower.

The MasterBox 600 is first and foremost an attractive case for fans of motherboards with rear connectors. It is, in fact, one of the few cases that supports them, which improves the usability of, for example, the recently tested Asus TUF B760M-BTF WiFi D4. But the case selection is hereby expanded to include similar designs from Gigabyte (Project Stealth) or MSI (Project Zero).

The point of moving the connectors from the front to the back is mainly for “nicer” aesthetics, as you can’t see the cables through the glass side panel. For the best visual appeal possible, the MasterBox also uses backlit fans with ARGB LEDs. These are in a configuration of 3 (intake) + 1 (outtake).

Significantly higher airflow comes from the front positions, where three 140-millimeter SickeFlow 140 PWM fans with a claimed speed range of 650–1850 rpm are pre-installed. At the back, on the exhaust, there is a single 120 mm CF120 ARGB fan (650–1200 rpm). The system cooling will thus be characterized by negative pressure. That is, unless you slow down the front fans significantly or move one of them to the ceiling position. This is also possible.

In the ceiling position there are two 140 mm positions for fans or you can eventually install liquid coolers up to 360 mm. In the front you can then fit even up to 420 mm radiators, and the MasterBox 600 is still an average sized midi-tower in terms of dimensions (474 × 230 × 481 mm). If you use a tower cooler instead of a liquid cooler, its height should not exceed 170 mm.

The length limitation for graphics cards is up to 360 mm (with a radiator in the front position) or 420 mm (without a radiator in the front position). This is then no longer a limitation, perhaps even with respect to future generations of the most powerful graphics cards.

Motherboards are supported (from Mini-ITX) up to E-ATX format with a width of up to 277 mm. However, Cooler Master states in a note that such large motherboards may already interfere with cables, as they will interfere with the cable organizers behind the motherboard. However, you may not be concerned about this if you use a motherboard with connectors in the back. The MasterBox 600 is designed for this layout. In addition to the grommets for cabling, there are also extra cutouts for connectors on the same plate. Without them, it would be impossible to connect the cables. The maneuvering space with cables in this section is supposed to be 33–35 mm. PSUs are supported in ATX format.

Výbava predného panela zahŕňa tri porty USB, z ktorých jeden je 20-gigabitový typu C (štandard 3.2 gen. 2×2) a dva konektory USB sú typu A (3.2 gen. 2).

The Cooler Master MasterBox 600 is expected to be available in stores at the end of May 2024. The manufacturer’s suggested price is 99 EUR for both black and white variants.

Cooler Master Oracle Air: Based on design elegance

In the context of external SSD enclosures, Cooler Master has come up with a remarkable concept that combines “tool-less” assembly with high mechanical durability. And yet, an efficient cooler is also used, and looking at the Oracle Air case, one can probably conclude that it has a presentable appearance as well. But let everyone evaluate this individually. Let’s move on to the details, which also include measurable results. Read more “Cooler Master Oracle Air: Based on design elegance” »

12VHPWR cable thermal imaging: Different PSU, different temps

Something for warm-up. We’ll start our ATX 3.0 PSU tests with perhaps the most talked about topic surrounding them, the temperatures of the new cables with 16-pin PCIe connectors. The overview of the PSUs of twelve brands answers well the question of how the manufacturers handled which models. With high current loads, the temperature differences can be quite significant, both on the connector housings and on the wire insulation. Not lucky last time? We still have the Cooler Master GX III Gold 850

One PSU contest is over, another one is starting. Cooler Master has donated its 850-watt GX III Gold model to our HWCooling contest. With a little luck, you can win one. It won’t be completely “free”, but you won’t break much of a sweat either. All you need to do is show a basic understanding of the Cooler Master power supply stuff. This will be especially easy for fans of the brand, but anyone can do it. Read more “Not lucky last time? We still have the Cooler Master GX III Gold 850” »
